Teach me the ways of the gish. 3.5

I came to this subreddit earlier, seeking help for building a character and recieved awesome help! However, I am fickle, and was reading more on other classes and builds to see what there was to offer, and what really stuck out to me was the 'gish' builds. So I'd like some help building one

Since I'm building a level 9 character, I was thinking of something like Fighter 2/Sorc 6/Spellsword 1 to start, then move to Eldritch Knight after that. Any suggestions as to other classes that are good, or feats I should be taking?
