Interest in SSL VPN solutions is exploding as more businesses clamor for anytime, anywhere access, said Sarah Daniels, vice president of product management and marketing at Aventail, based here. As a result, Aventail is recruiting networking and security solution providers through its new Access Partner Program to sell and install its EX-1500 SSL VPN appliance. Partners would be responsible for managing and supporting customers.

'There are numerous value-add opportunities for partners, ranging from pre-installation planning, installation, configuration and support to integration with other networking security [offerings] such as firewalls, authentication and managed services like monitoring and intrusion detection,' Daniels said.
Microsoft photo editor download free. Solution providers must become certified, with at least two technical employees and one sales employee completing the accreditation process. Partners said Aventail has been flexible in providing training.
'They have been extremely accommodating overall and offered to fly out to us to train our people,' said Jeff Pompeo, senior vice president and CTO of Netifice Communications, an Atlanta-based network service provider. 'We're starting to see a big demand for SSL-based VPNs because [the technology] plays well in the mobile worker world.'

Mobile users don't want to have to reconfigure devices to bypass firewalls, as is the case with IPsec-based technology, and they prefer SSL VPN technology because it only requires a browser with built-in SSL, Pompeo said. 'This allows users to use a friend's PC or a kiosk at a trade show to gain access to their corporate data,' he said.
Aventail's channel program primarily will target solution providers with experience in networking, firewalls, VPNs and IT security products and services, Daniels said.
The base partner discount for the EX-1500, which lists for $24,000, is expected to be 30 percent, but that discount will increase based on sales volume, she said.
